Good for basket making, sturdy straight rods, little branching and attractive colour. In spring, stems display a red shading which darkens later to a dark mahogany brown. Stems are often green at the base. Slender long leaves show an attractive red tinge when young. Makes a tall hedge or can be grown as an ornamental plant for its colour. Grows 6-9't approx per year. Coppice every year for best colours. Neat slender catkins with almost black tip highlights. Rods dry to dark grey-brown.
Yellow contorted willow, very ornamental, good for flower arrangements and dried displays. In Spring, fresh green stems with rose red tips which contrast with the bright green leaves.
